The binding is a combination of materials, either bent or cut to shape…  This axe will have some awesome soundports (see schematic), and they are bound in quilted mahogany. I toyed with some ideas and thought it would be easier to bind them prior to rough carving. Worked great! The aged european spruce top looks awesome.

 Just finished up with the chambered axe- turned out great! Ultra light, a very air and open tone thanks to the chambers and lightweight wood species. I’d own one of these! First pics are the latest schematics for […]  I’ve reached my 250th guitar- my client Ernie Burkhardt reserved the number and asked for a special soundhole concept as well as a couple other nifty things. Here are my initial sketches for the guitar. Nothing set in stone, but I should be able to start soon!!! This one WILL be fun.  So i’m in sort of a downtime while i wait for the current projects to finish curing. It takes the lacquer 10-15 days to fully harden up before it can be polished. Got right to work on Noah’s guitar again- did the long buffing and polishing process. Just about ready for hardware, strings and a setup!  It’s been a while since i posted, but here’s what I am up to in the shop this month- a custom D’Angelico inspired 16″ archtop commissioned by Noah Gershwin.After some more fine detailing it will be ready for the paint room- its getting a D’A style sunburst like this bad boy.  FINISHED!!! Ships this week to its new home in Europe. I really wish i could go on a “where are they now” tour? I could go all over the world!  FINISHED!!!Shipped today to its new home in sunny California. Hey, can I stow along?  Color stage is finished in the spray room. All the guitars look super cool. I will be finishing the clear coats over the weekend!  Finish Sanding / prep. I love the sneak peek of the figured woods while refining the surface!!!
