Two of the four guitars in this run will have a violin inspired paint job. These pics show the process so far. The guitars are given a dark amber stain, a clear coat and then some darkening with some burnt umber lacquer. I top it off with a touch of lemon yellow lacquer to brighten […]

Gilad Hekselman stopped by with his guitar the other day for some adjustments and tweaks. He travels all over the place with his axe and plays it quite a bit, so it was time for a quick pit stop. We also installed a smaller tail piece to do some experimenting with a longer string length […]

Ive been hard at work on my mini run of 14″ laminates. This series of pics show more of the various steps involved. This model is designed to be primarily an electric instrument and the carved and scalloped quartersawn spruce bracing impart a nice woody tone while preventing feedback. The bracing is custom tailored and […]

Here’s a glimpse into how I made the bridge base for my current archtop project. I have all my components rendered very accurately in CAD, and I can machine a very precise surface on the underside of the ebony bridge base that matches the exterior of the guitar’s arch. Here’s my 250th guitar! Its finally finished and I’m really pleased. It was a lot of fun doing all the commemorative type stuff and special features on it like the soundholes, the headstock inlay as well as the “250” tail piece engraving. The woods are European spruce, figured mahogany, quilted mahogany binding and ebony fingerboard […]

Just finished up my stealth 14″ project and I’m very pleased. Its all triple stained black with ebony and black parts (even custom installed real ebony pickup covers). Guaranteed to evade radar with its stealthy vibe. Definitely a fun project- it is shipping to its new home in Arizona tomorrow. I’ll be playing it all […]
