 Here’s whats going on in the shop- as usual I’m horribly behind on my blog posts- but i have been taking lots of pics. Im putting together 3 different archtops over the summer here. A 17″ Gig Pro for Alex Sugerman, a 17″ laminate model for Christian Lassen, and a 16″ model for Marty Klapper. […]  Finished! This is the Quilted mahogany semi that I’ve been working on. I’ve been waiting on some hand wound pickups from Kent Armstrong to arrive. They came in right on time and sound fantastic. Pictures dont do justice to the Quilted mahogany at all. Truly 3d and outrageous. I have plenty more and cant wait […]  I am gearing up for my next archtop guitar projects which will begin next week. I thought I’d post some amazing quilted maple I got in from Canada for my client Marty… wow!  I’m still working on my daughter Allie’s guitar! Today is her 5th birthday, hopefully I’ll have it done for her in a week or so!  Ok… so I am very restless with tailpiece design. This will be my 11th production tail that I have come up with for the archtops. I have fun continually designing, and I’m always looking for a balance of ease of use, elegance and (on the shop side) smooth fabrication. This one definitely fits the bill […]  Complete! Here’s the Model 17 Gig Pro I’ve been working on for my client Raffi. Its fun to work on the bigger archtops, and the chocolate burst turned out just as I hoped. Sounds big and fat and plays great.  Finished!!! All finished up and FOR SALE! This guitar turned out great- super tone and very easy to play. Laminate top and back (spruce outer shell on soundboard, flame maple outer shell on back), Spruce center block, Lollar Imperial pickups, ebony fingerboard, new design top loading tailpiece… email me for details! And did I mention […]  Finish Curing Clear coats are on- they just need to cure up for a couple weeks… Gettin there!!!  Allies’ guitar project!!! Neck construction… Squeezed in a little more time on my daughter’s guitar!!! Neck looks like the right size for her little hand…  Assembly / Finishing… Continuing progress on my semi hollow projects! Finally have an acceptable spray set up- got a nice burst on the spruce top one. The quilted mahogany one is off the hook! Clear coats are all on and curing- more pics soon!  Allies’ guitar project!!! bracing and plate prep work… Squeezed in a little time on my little girl’s archtop. Such a fun project. Cracks me up how small the components are…

 Here’s how I finished up the Epoxy “Ebony” cast tail piece… A heavy duty brass strap is fashioned to wrap over the butt of the guitar. A cast cover makes it look nice and neat from the end view.
