Here’s the latest instrument I’ve made for Gilad! It’s a model 15 with some tweak we came up with for an alternate and different sound Gilad was looking for. Gilads first guitar has been in service for quite a while and has a fantastic well balanced electric jazz tone. For this guitar he was looking for a bit more acoustic qualities sort of in between what his first guitar is and what the Howard Roberts guitar that he used for years has. We bumped up one body size and deepened the body depth a bit. This put more air in the interior. The guitar still has a center block but is scaled down compared to what I normally use. This will help with feedback. The larger sound holes give the guitar a more open sound as well.
We are now tweaking and adjusting the guitar as it settles in, and look for him playing it very soon. Gilad is going out of town for several weeks and I’ll be pitching in and playing it a bunch to break it in. Looking forward to that!! But reaaaally looking forward to checking out what exciting stuff he does with it this summer and beyond.
